Linear low products resist punctures and are tear resistant, functioning well for waste with sharp objects. High density products work well for paper and non-sharp objects, and perform well under ex- treme temperatures. Determine Strength of bag needed in environment: The thickness of a bag determines the strength of the bag, and of course the heavier weight bags are more costly than lighter weight bags. Most manufacturers have charts which indicate weight load of individual bags. In general low density bags which are 1.0 mil or less, are intended for medium to light weight paper trash, light weight food trash, with few expected sharp-edged items. Low density bags with ranging from 1 to 1.75 mil are intended for heavier weight every-day trash, and items with some sharp edges. Extra heavy weight low density liners, ranging from 1.75 to 2.75mil perform well when trash includes broken glass, heavier sharp metal objects. High density bags are made from a lighter weight resin and are not as puncture resistant as low density bags. Measured in microns, high density bags ranging from 6-8 microns are most often utilized in of ce settings where garbage is primarily light weight paper. Medium weight 11-13 micron bags work well for rags and heavier smooth objects. High Density 16-19 micron bags perform well when utilized for heavier food waste and non-sharp objects. Bags over 19 microns are utilized for extra heavy paper, such as magazines and newspa- pers, and also non-sharp objects. Bag length: Mesure the height of the container, then add ½ of the diameter of the container bottom, plus 3" to allow for overhang. If the container is square or rectangle- shaped, measure the diagonal of the container bottom, rather than the diameter.
